Salary requirement 2020 for Highly Skilled Migrants
It is very important that the salaries of your highly skilled migrants from non-EU countries always meet the requirements
The highly skilled migrant (HSM) procedure is used for non-EU employees who work under a local (Dutch) contract. The question of whether these employees are highly qualified is determined by their income level, and not by their education or training. The HSM salary requirements change per year. It is very important that the salaries of your highly skilled migrants from non-EU countries always meet the requirements, even if the employee works part-time. We strongly recommend you to check this out as the Dutch government checks this regularly.
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment has announced the new salary requirements for highly skilled migrants as from 1 January 2020:
- Highly skilled migrants younger than 30 years: €3.381,00 gross per month excluding holiday allowance;
- Highly skilled migrants 30 years or older: €4.612,00 gross per month excluding holiday allowance;
- Highly skilled migrants following an orientation year or within 3 years after graduating or work as a scientific researcher: €2.423,00 gross per month excluding holiday allowance;
- European Blue Card: €5.403,00 gross per month excluding holiday allowance.
Intra Corporate Transferees (ICT) procedure
The ICT procedure is used for employees who are on contract in a non-EU country and are seconded to the Netherlands. The maximum duration of this procedure is 3 years. The salary requirement is a bit vague; The law states that wages must comply with market requirements. In practice, the Dutch immigration authorities take the HSM salary requirement as a basis. Therefore, please check the salary requirement 2020 for the HSM immigration application.
