The company recognizes “great skill in Africa” among workers who can assist US firms solve a tech talent shortage
Andelа is an American company that gathers engineering teams for start-ups and technology giants around the world. It was founded 5 years ago and since then has hired 1,800 people from Africa.
Now customers from 13 countries are served by 1,300 Andela software developers, mainly working in their home cities in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda and Uganda.
According to Andela’s vice president of partner engineering, the company recognizes “great skill in Africa” among workers who can assist US firms solve a tech talent shortage. Andelа is demonstrating that highly skilled developers are available on a continent which is not known for its software engineering talent.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) Reports Progress on Brexit Preparedness
The production and supply of medicines is so intertwined throughout the EU that a lot of work has been done to ensure the correct marketing permits and other requirements for British-made medicines.
The latest progress are:
- Transfers of 400 UK marketing permits – amended 397
- Qualified Pharmacovigilance Persons – amended 243 out of 335 drugs
- Pharmacovigilance system master files – amended 313 out of 376 medicines
- Batch release sites – amended 95 out of 119 medicines
The EMA was assured by the responsible companies that they have plans in place but are reminded to make any changes as fast as possible.

2019 European Innovation Scoreboard: the Netherlands is in top 10
According to the European Commission’s 2019 European Innovation Scoreboard (EIS), which ranks EU member states and selected third countries based on their research and innovation performance, the Netherlands is in top 10 innovation leader list.
A country’s innovation performance is measured using the Summary Innovation Index, which summarises the performance of 27 different indicators which are grouped in 4 main categories: framework conditions, investments, innovation activities and impacts.
The Netherlands belongs to the Innovation Leader category, where performance is above 120 percent of the EU average. The Netherlands succeed in attractive research systems, linkages and an innovation-friendly environment.

According to a recent decision from the nation’s highest court, French employers can finish the employment of workers who can’t perform their job after a workplace accident by signing “amicable termination agreements”.
These agreements let employers to stop employing a worker in exchange for paying an agreed severance pay to an employee. In France, such dismissals are usually considered valid, except for cases of fraud by the employer or the lack of consent of the employee.
