Highly skilled migrants | USA begins process of adding registration fee for H-1B skilled occupation visas

Skilled worker immigration has, as yet, managed to avoid the same politicisation as other U.S. immigration issues although these recent developments may have the potential to change that. The Department of Homeland Security has begun the process of implementing a fee for those applying for an H-1B visa through the upcoming online registration system.
There has, thus far, been no indication of what that fee might be but no doubt there will be some media discussion as to how the added cost might affect the profile of those in a position to apply for a U.S. visa, or indeed if citizens of certain countries might be disproportionately impacted.
